Having A Baby

I wasn’t really sure how to tell my husband. I mean, four was not really in our plan, but ya know, he’ll adjust. I mean really, after 3 babies, what’s one more?

Everyone should have a baby.

Don’t get me wrong, not everyone is meant to be a parent. However, I believe everyone should have a baby. My first foray into having a baby, was actually becoming a parent of a baby. I woke up every 2 1/2 hours 24 hours straight for 4 months to the primal screams of a colicky baby. I put my own desires, wants, interests, and let’s face it, personal hygiene aside for a little 7lb. 14 oz. bundle that flipped my life upside down. I was sleep deprived, confused, humbled, and crazed with love. I wasn’t sure if I was doing anything right. I read books, talked with other parents, did research, went for long walks, cried, laughed and enjoyed the whole mess of it all. One thingI knew for sure, there was no turning back.

Then I did it two more times.

I have a new baby now. Oh and you are so very lucky, because my “baby” is kinda all about you. Yes, I am sleep deprived, waking up with outrageous ways to help people find relief, live their dreams, and “crush it” in ways they never imagined. I give up “vacations”, say “maybe later” to splurges and babysitters. My life is flipped upside down, I am confused, crazed with love and inspiration, and obsessed. I am not sure I am doing any of it “right”, but one thing I know for sure, there is no turning back.

Things I do to take care of TurningPoint Strategy:

    • Feed it. (coaching, marketing, hiring my own business coach)
  • Nurture it. (read, join coaching groups, maintain certification)
  • Give it my undivided attention.
  • Lose sleep over it.
  • Sacrafice for it.
  • Worry about it.
  • Change it when it needs changing.
  • Spend money cultivating it and giving it what it need.

What I get in return:

    • Joy
  • Laughter
  • Contentment
  • Passion
  • Sense of purpose
  • Inspiration to be better, try harder than I want to
  • Deeper, more meaningful relationships with other people
  • Feeling of making an impact on the world

To you parents out there, does this sound familiar?

Do you have a “baby”?  A dream you buried because it was crazy or didn’t make sense. Babies don’t make sense. They don’t wait for the “right” or “convenient” time. Do have a part of you, that has been laying dormant? A dream that you have ignored because it’s “not your turn”. It’s time to name your baby. If you don’t have a name, let’s pick one out together. Let’s  make waves, be inconvenient, say “no” to distractions and “yes” to your agenda. Your baby will thank you.

Go get ‘em baby!!

Less Work. More Life.
